Sustainable Sarasota is a unit of Sarasota County Government whose mission is to foster sustainability within Sarasota County Government and throughout the community through research, partnerships and education. Sustainability means balancing environment, economics, and social equity to satisfy our present needs without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their needs. 

Sustainable Sarasota and the Sustainable Sarasota Partner agree that:

Sustainability, and all that it encompasses, is of vital importance. The current level of environmental, economic and social resources must be maintained so that future generations can enjoy the same high quality of life that we do today. It is imperative that we do everything possible to make our business and institutional practices as sustainable as possible. Sustainable Sarasota and its Partners are a resource through which this can be accomplished. 

Sustainable Sarasota Agrees To:

              Provide and facilitate business assistance in decreasing the negative environmental and
      social impacts of a business while maximizing economic efficiency and building community
      support.
      Include the Partner in Partnership activities such as meetings, workshops, forums, seminars,
      and promotional and educational exhibits and be the point of contact for the partner.
      Provide resources, advice, research, and collaboration to improve the Partner’s sustainability
      efforts.
      Highlight the Partner and their sustainability efforts via our webpage, newsletter, display and
      presentations as opportunity arises.
      Highlight the Partner and their Sustainability efforts via the local media when opportunity
      arises.
      Provide networking opportunities and facilitate funding and resources for the Partner at
      Sustainable Sarasota events and through other methods when the opportunity arises.
      Include the Partner’s sustainability efforts in our annual report.
      Provide specialized meetings, workshops, trainings, and other educational events for the
      Partner and their staff when possible.
      Distribute our quarterly newsletter to the partner

The Sustainable Sarasota Partner Agrees To:

              Make its business or institutional operations and activities as sustainable as possible, with
      Sustainable Sarasota assistance if necessary.
      Consider the benefits of creating an environmental policy and plan for their business if a
      formal one does not already exist.
      Promote sustainability and its importance as much as possible.
      Promote Sustainable Sarasota, its programs and it’s participation as a Sustainable Sarasota
      Partner as much as possible.
      Consider the benefits of a DOE Rebuild America Partnership.
      Assist other Sustainable Sarasota Partners in becoming more sustainable when possible.
      Participate in Sustainable Sarasota Partner Surveys and Presentations
      Perform independent critiques of Sustainable Sarasota materials when possible.
