Student Research at Red Bug Slough Preserve

Sustainable Sarasota currently partners with Booker High School Environmental Science Academy, providing a hands-on curriculum for students to participate in the study and management of environmentally-sensitive lands.

Through a grant from the Legacy Program of Southwest Florida Water Management District, Sarasota County biologists are working with students and teachers to integrate land management and environmental education at Red Bug Slough Preserve. School activities include fieldtrips, water quality testing, habitat plot monitoring, butterfly garden installation, and trails improvement.

For more information, please contact Jeff Jackson, Director of the Environmental Science Academy: 941-355-2967.
