A non-profit that helps companies develop sustainable forestry procurement programs; publishes a guide of certified product manufacturers, producers and distributors; and provides an on-line database of certified forest products. 

Chlorine Free Products Association 
A non-profit that promotes chlorine-free policies, technologies, and products (paper & more) worldwide. Provides a database of certified and recommended paper products.

Co-Op America’s National Green Pages
A 200-page catalog updated annually in phone book format; available on-line and in hardcopy forms.

Comprehensive Procurement Guidelines Program - U.S. EPA
A U.S. EPA program, it identifies more than 50 products that must be purchased with recycled-content if using federal government money. It also recommends recycled-content percentages and provides lists of manufacturers and vendors that have compliant products. 

Database of Recycled Commodities - National Association of State Purchasing Officials
This database provides contract and commodity information for thousands of recycled content products. Access to the database is free, but all users must register and log in with each use

ENERGYSTAR Database
This U.S Department of Energy / U.S. Environmental Protection Agency program site lists the U.S. Federal Government's EnergyStar standards and identifies all of the products earning the energy-efficiency designation in more than 40 categories.

Environment Canada’s Environmental Choice Program
An environmental labeling program of the Canadian Federal Government that awards the EcoLogo™ to products and services that meet their environmental, safety and performance requirements (considers the life cycle impacts). The website provides a database of certified products, guidelines for defining green products and services and certification criteria of specific product/service categories.

GREENGUARD Environmental Institute
Third-party, scientific non-profit that tests and labels building and interior products with low-off gassing status. Certified Product Guide on line, .

Green Seal
Third-party certifier of green products, awards “Green Seal of Approval” in a variety of product categories using a life-cycle impact analysis. Certified and recommended product lists available..

GreenSpec Directory
Published by the editors of Environmental Building News, this book contains information on more than 1,650 green building products in more than 250 categories; includes product descriptions, environmental characteristics and considerations, manufacturer contact information and guideline specifications.   

The Official Recycled Products Guide
The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection maintains this ever-expanding database that now includes over 4,500 recycled product listings as certified by over 700 manufacturers and distributors and over 950 different recycled product classifications. Inclusion in the guide is free for certified recycled products, and it is free to access and use.

An extensive database of green building product manufactures and products.  

Recycled-Content Product Database – State of California
California’s database lists thousands of recycled products and provides information on the companies that reprocess, manufacture and/or distribute these products; updated regularly.

Sarasota Green Connection
Offers sustainable land planning and green building consulting services and products. Sells green home products from across the U.S. but focuses on promoting local vendors, designers and companies. Also houses the green advertising business headquarters. Its website supports its work to help local home owners “green” their homes.

U.S. EPA’s Buy Recycled Database
Searchable database that features recycled-content products and vendors who sell or distribute these Comprehensive Procurement Guideline-designated products. Can search by specific product areas, product category, type of material, or vendor. Updates correspond with new information about CPG product vendors.

U.S. EPA’s Green Product Database
Contains more than 600 products and services and the environmental attribute information, specifications and standards on which their green designation is based. A great source for contract language, specifications, and policies created and used by government entities and others to buy environmentally preferable products and services. Other information includes, EPP Updates, guidance documents, fact sheets, EPP case studies and miscellaneous information useful to government purchasers.

Printed annually; available in electronic or hardcopy form. Note: not all products in this catalogue are “green”; read the product descriptions carefully to ensure the green credentials. 

Your Regular Vendor?

Many “regular” vendors now sell green products, thanks to the ever-increasing demand for them; check with your sales representative to see what green products they have to offer. However, beware of green-washing!  Check the product's MSDS and any relevant certifications to ensure the product is as good as it claims to be.
